Goblins

Goblins are wicked little slavedrivers with a great hatred towards dwarvenkind. They hide for the light of the sun and come out at night to murder and steal.

A goblin grow as tall as a human child. They are deformed, ugly creatures that come in many shapes and sizes. They have greyish yellow or dark skin and red to yellow beady eyes. They dress in stolen armour or filthy leather rags in earthen colours, or in whatever clothing their slavers dress them.

History
It is said that goblins once had a mighty empire that spanned over the entire continent of Bellög. They were lead by a large, fearsome goblin king who lived in the mountains of Vuorilas in an immense palace. According to dwarf legends goblins disrespected their god Hiisi and he decided to punish them. One by one the tribes rebelled and the empire fell. They say that to this day the king sits on his solid golden throne, afraid to die in the light of day.

Today
Goblins hide by day, in caves and gorges close to human, dwarven or elven settlements. Their lairs are the base of their ambushes on caravans. They kill adult men without remorse and use defenceless women as slaves. Children are usually eaten or sacrificed.

Some goblins are slaves of hobgoblins or evil humans. When they are taken from this packs they are easy to manipulate and control.

Culture
Like orcs the goblins are cruel bullies. Their lairs are only temporal homes to allow them to stay mobile. For this reason they leave their filth where they go. Goblin liars are no more than disgusting holes in the ground. The strongest rules a goblin tribe. It is not unusual that they are controlled by stronger or smarter creatures. Goblins are greedy and sometimes band with bandits or orcs in exchange for gold or slaves. After their dealing the goblins will often turn on their former allies because they are lying cheats.

Goblins do not usually write, but pass on legends and stories through their shamans. The shaman is an important figure in the tribe, his support van make a goblin leader even more dangerous.
Although goblins are, in theory, still obliged to pay tribute to their king it is unknown which tribes still bother to do so.

Religion
Hiisi, lord of lies, is the god of goblins. He demands that his followers lie and cheat others. A real servant of Hiisi should only think of himself and his master. In his honour the goblins stack the bones of their tortured victims.
